Resetting Password Issues

I've been having trouble resetting my password. At first I thought it was just a faulty memory and switching back and forth between computers, and then it didn't come up because I would stay logged in. I've reset it three or four times in a row now, and I keep thinking 'I know I typed it exactly like this.' When I fill in the password fields they match and I don't receive any notification that my password is too long (which I've had trouble with before).

Logging in to Weblit.us

So... when I go directly to Weblit.us by typing the URL into my browser address bar, I arrive at the site already logged in. However, when I'm on another DigitalNovelists site and go to Weblit.us by selecting it from the DN dropdown list, I arrive at the site as a guest, not logged in.

Is there anything I can do so that Weblit.us remembers me even when I'm coming in thru the DN bar, or is it just One of Those Things and I really should learn to remember my password? Has anyone else noticed this quirk?

A slightly bigger Posted on thing

Hey Meilin.
This is really not very urgent.
However I have some fairly bad eyesight, and I can never read the posted on thing. And then I have to go and make everything big just to read that.
However, I also find it very confusing that the Joined on xxx is bigger than the Posted on xxx, because when you go looking for a date it's the first day you notice.
So I'm thinking that the posted on should be closer to the post, instead of above the poster box.

Did that make sense?
As I said, not very important, but it has been annoying me for a while.

Lots of Love

Jan

A front page

A front page is what you see on weblit.us when you first load it. It's been mentioned and discussed already in these two threads:

http://weblit.us/content/whatll-we-have-here-readers
http://weblit.us/content/recruiting-poster

But it really needs its own thread.

A lot of the text has already been written. Pasting that in below:

Tangents!

We're writers. We're naturally good at tangents, otherwise editors wouldn't have anything to do but check spelling and grammar and tell us that they didn't have bazookas back in the war of 1812. I was wondering if Tales of Woe and Intrigue could be changed to Tales of Woe, Intrigue and Tangents. That or a tangents/random forum where we can divert tangents to. I've policed myself from saying too much off-topic stuff, but conversations are what they are.

Sub-forum for WebLit publications?

Pubs take a lot of work and discussion to organize, and that magazine anthology thread is getting pretty long already. It might be a good idea to have all the threads about things we're trying to publish be in one sub-forum. I guess I'm thinking ahead more than anything. It'll be nice to keep smaller threads related to specific parts of a publication instead of having one big thread for one publication where you have to keep searching around for the one bit of info you're looking for.

Resource listings

I've been trying to figure out how to do resource listings, and I've got it sussed halfway; I know how to do the other half, I just need some content first and some time.

Right now we have:
Twitter hashtag chats
Listings, review sites and guides
Professional services

...and we've had a request for a registered user list, which is a separate animal and will be implemented at about the same time as the finished pages for these listings.

Other thoughts for listings:
Good advertising venues (specific sites to advertise on)
POD presses, including t-shirt presses

User list

I'd like to be able to see a full list of registered users. Right now, it's hit or miss: if I see someone's post or that you're online, I can click to see what you've put in your profile. If I don't see you, your post, or I do see something shiny--

Images in forum posts?

I was just wanting to show off my character art in the ad design thread... it's all links, not the same. Or maybe an image gallery?

User profiles?

Because, well, a lot of us just can't talk about ourselves enough. Laughing out loud No, really, I just see the introductions area getting pretty difficult to navigate if this gets really really popular, and profiles are an easy way to index content by person. ... Or, to put it simply, it's easier for me to click on say Karen Wehrstein's profile to get her web URL than hunt it down in an intro thread (if she's posted one) or whatever.

I promise I won't list my occupation as "prostitute" in this forum.

Enabling signatures might also be slightly awesome.
