We're producing an issue for the end of January, consisting of a look back at 2009 and a look forward at the year to come. Anyone who is either a reader or a writer/production team member of a webserial or any other form of continuing online entertainment is highly encouraged to participate.

Note to writers: for each of your submissions, remember to include the title of your serial, the URL, and your full name / nom de keyboard. Don't make us hunt these down, please!

The article opportunities are:

1) 2009: A LOOK BACK - PLOT RECAPS: Writers: What happened on your serial / series / webnovel / whatever this past year? Summarize the main events in 750 words or less, using paragraphs and past tense please. (E.g., "Stan went crazy" not "Stan goes crazy.")

2) 2009 REFLECTIONS: Writer: What were some of your favorite, or least favorite, moments as you produced your work? Did you revamp the design? Was your site mentioned in the New York Times or did you gain 100 new followers on Twitter? Are you extra proud of finally killing off that boring / hated character? Are you disappointed that you didn't produce enough installments? Let us know.

Fans/readers: Anything trends stand out in general in the past year? What about personally--did anything change for you in how you enjoyed (or didn't enjoy) recreational websites? Did you start watching more videos? Discover a bunch of new webfiction sites?

Submissions for either of the above should be sent to me at: editor@epiguide.com by January 10, 2010.

3) 2009 HIGHS AND LOWS: Now let's get more specific. What were your favorites, best/worsts in the serials/webseries/whatever you follow? You can get as detailed as you like, or just follow the list format. Some categories you might include:

Favorite / Least Favorite Serials:
Favorite / Most Hated Plot:
Favorite / Most Hated Character:
Most Improved:
Most Disappointing:
Plot Twist You Loved:
Plot Twist You Hated:
Most Daring Story:
Biggest Shock:
Weirdest Moment:
Funniest Moment:
Saddest Moment:
Scariest Moment:
Sexiest Moment:
Favorite All-Round Scene:
Favorite / Least Favorite Design:
Best Artwork:
Favorite / Least Favorite Trend:

Send submissions to: bex@epiguide.com by January 10, 2010.

4) 2010 WINTER PREVIEW: Writers: what can we look forward to over the next few months? This one has a word limit of 300, so make 'em count.

Readers/audience members: What are you looking forward to, if anything? What do you hope to see? What do you hope to not see?

Send submissions to: bex@epiguide.com by January 10, 2010.

5) SCENE SAMPLINGS - NEW YEAR'S: Send us an existing scene relating to New Year's -- it can be a New Year's Eve party or a family watching some New Year's Day football or whatever you have connected to December 31 or January 1. Remember, this shouldn't be a new scene; we want to see something already produced. In addition to the scene, please include the name/number of the installment/chapter/episode where this scene can be found, as well as a link. Oh, and of course, include the name/link of your site, too.

Send submissions to: bex@epiguide.com by January 10, 2010.

6) WRITERS CHALLENGE: HOLIDAY PARTY: Writers, create a new scene focusing on someone making a fool of him/herself in a holiday party setting. A drunken confession, a kiss under the misteltoe aimed at the wrong person... It's up to you.

Submissions for either of the above should be sent to me at: editor@epiguide.com by January 10, 2010.

That's it! If you have any questions about how to submit material, or about the guidelines, ask away. And writers, do please edit as carefully as possible: we will not edit your scenes, so if you include a typo, it'll be shown to everyone.

If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks & happy new year!

@Kira re 2) 2009 reflections for a writer - is there a word limit on this?

Nope -- they tend to be short so I didn't bother assigning a wordcount. I mean, no dissertations or anything, but otherwise have fun.

K, thx. I'll probably keep it to 750 or under on principle.

Hey gang. There are two days left to participate in this issue and promote your serials for free. Everyone wants free publicity, right? So why have we received so few entries from y'all? Smile Get a move on, ladies and gents.

And of course, thank you to those who've already submitted material.
