So... when I go directly to Weblit.us by typing the URL into my browser address bar, I arrive at the site already logged in. However, when I'm on another DigitalNovelists site and go to Weblit.us by selecting it from the DN dropdown list, I arrive at the site as a guest, not logged in.

Is there anything I can do so that Weblit.us remembers me even when I'm coming in thru the DN bar, or is it just One of Those Things and I really should learn to remember my password? Has anyone else noticed this quirk?

Also, it would be really cool if I could have just one account that would log me in on any DN site, but I don't know if that's possible.

I can't duplicate this. Can anyone else? There's no real reason why this should happen, though I don't doubt that.

As for single log-in: Most if not all DN sites support OpenID.

Doesn't happen for me.

You should get Firefox and tell it to remember your password! I don't know my password for half the sites I log into because Firefox just remembers it for me XD

LOL, I do use Firefox, but I rarely tell it to store my passwords. Enough of my passwords are similar that I get a little worried about that, security-wise.

@MeiLin - thanks.

@MeiLin - I was able to duplicate it. Started as logged in here at Weblit.us, used DN bar to navigate to Scryer's Gulch, then from Scryer's Gulch back to Weblit.us, and I was logged out.

Using Firefox on Windows Vista. Since I never closed the browser, the Weblit.us session should have been retained.

Unsure if all sites in the DN list are causing this phenomenon; I just tested it on Scryer's Gulch, and don't have time to check the others before work.

Edit: Strange. Now I can't get it to duplicate.

More details.

It seems to only occur the first time I use the bar during a given browser session. For example:

  • Open browser
  • Go to Weblit.us via address bar; log in
  • Use DN bar to go to Scryer's Gulch.
    • Edit -- also occurs with Swords and Sigils, The Surprising Life, Shadows of Sicily, and others; assuming it occurs with all sites in the list.
  • Use DN bar to come back; Weblit.us has logged me out
  • Log back in at Weblit.us
  • From then on, the bar works fine
  • Close browser, re-open, and process repeats.

I'm able to regularly duplicate the glitch in Firefox 3.5.7, Chrome 3.0, and IE 8.

Also, unsure if this is related, but when I'm on Mythmashed, the link to Weblit.us does not appear in the list, and when I'm on Legends of the Halflight, I have to enter a CAPTCHA to be able to use the DN bar.

VERY odd.

Legends of the Halflight probably has too many captchas enabled, and I don't think HM Cooper is at his site all that often. I'll go in and change that.

I have no idea why this bug exists. The bar is called in javascript, so Mythmashed should have the same one as everyone else. Hm. I shall ponder.

Legends of the Half Light has been fixed. Mythmashed has WebLit.Us in its drop-down, not sure why you didn't see that. Perhaps this is a caching problem, all this? Hm.

I dunno. I don't know the first thing about session IDs and the like.

I'll play around with my cookies settings later and see if that does anything. I'll keep you posted.
