Knitting
Blame Irk, it was her idea
So who knits besides me, MeiLin, and Char? Anyone?
Knitting is awesome.
Do ravelled sleeves count?
I can knit, but the last time I did my hands got numb. I want to do it again, but I'm not sure where my needles are. It's really soothing. It's one of those things, like writing, where you need to take a break otherwise you'll mess up your hand.
Well, Lin, I have often wished I could knit instead of wasting so much time sleeping...
I knit as well.
I need to finish my baby blankets. *sigh*
Char taught me how to knit. I managed three or four scarves, but I have more fun sewing. I have even MORE fun putting off doing EITHER of them!
I knit. I also sew (and do costuming, a related hobby, though I've not yet made any for myself).
My hands are beginning to cramp already as I enter Christmas Knitting Marathon '09. Y'all can write a novel in a month; I'm gonna knit a mitten a week for 13 weeks while keeping up on my serial.
~Lyn
Uh, Lyn? What are you going to do with the single mitten, or do you know someone with only one hand?
It's a zen thing. You wouldn't understand.
But I... ... OK, fair enough.
I'm tempted to just start over and crochet this damn blanket. It's a cute basketweave, but it's taking so damn long that I'm running out of time. ;_; I crochet MUCH faster than I knit.
I dunno, I miscalculated my hook size and ended up embarked upon a blanket, not an afghan (much tighter gauge). It'll be just about big enough for a twin bed when it's done, very warm, and made up of something like 15 skeins of Red Heart Homespun. It's yer basic ripple, nothing fancy, but it's coming out gorgeous. I just crochet to the end of the skein, attach the next skein in the alternating color, and off I go. At this pace, I figure I'll be done in time for summer next year. In the meantime, it's a great thing to work on when I'm cold.
Yeah, I'm crocheting a king-size afghan. It's soft gray, done entirely in double-crochet. Very warm already.
I'm glad the heat is past so I can start working on it again!
Tbtbth.
It avoids "second mitten syndrome," I suppose.
Actually, my schedule looks like: Dad's Mitt A-1, Mom's mitt a-1, dad's mitt a-2, Mom's mitt b-1, Anna's scarf, dad's mitt b-1, mom's mitt b-2, etc.
But now I'm making a sexy Dr. Horrible-style lab coat on commission. So knitting might have to wait.
~Lyn
Knitting or crochetting is a winter thing for me... the next afghan I do will be a light spectrum...
It's normally a winter thing for me, too.
Last year, I got laid off in December, and didn't knit again until June (housewarming dishcloths).
Now I'm trying to get a head start to make up for the Christmas knitting I was going to do last year!
~Lyn, with aching hands.
I just learned to crochet the star/snowflake stitch, so now of course I want to do EVERYTHING that way. XD I'm sticking to Baby Blanket A, though. BBB is basketweave.
I am a newbie knitter, still trying...
You can do it, jolantru! If you need help, www.knittinghelp.com is a great resources. Free and very clear videos.
I have knit, then it got paused when I started writing. I really need to get back to it so I can finish my daughter's sweater before she outgrows it!
I was just reminded of my Ravelry account. I'm pdxchar on there, if anyone wants to see what I'm up to and connect. <3
I friended you, Char! I'm claredragonfly there.

Working on a hat right now that's a Yule present for...somebody. Hope it turns out; it's rather more construction than I usually like.
