I feel a little redundant introducing myself here, as I recently did so at the fiction2.0 googlegroups, but I hope you'll forgive the repetition if you are at both places.

I am newish to the fiction writing scene, but have been promoting other fantasy and science fiction artists since 1993, and have been writing non-fiction about the business of art for some time. I run an e-zine for artists and writers of fantasy and science fiction called EMG-Zine: http://emg-zine.com - because my footing is more firmly in the art community, there is a slant towards art over writing, but I'm working to correct that. (See the guidelines, if you've got anything that would fit - I do accept reprints!) We've been publishing since January, 2006, and have 58 issues out and three print anthologies.

My shared world weblit project, Torn World, opened in January of this year (2010) and has stories, poetry and artwork from several dozen contributors available. My biggest challenge with the site is to make it navigable - we have poetry, mythology and folk stories spanning generations, and much of the writing is non-linear. A timeline keeps things in some order, an art gallery houses shiny bits, and a surfable map links to cultures that are recorded in the background articles. A language database for our rather intensive language is in the works, too. I've gotten some useful input regarding a better 'start here' page, and will be working to improve that. Any thoughts you have on the site would be very welcome! http://tornworld.net

I also run Portrait Adoption, a site where gamers and writers can find pre-existing portraits of characters, ready to adopt exclusively, Fantastic Portfolios, where artists can get detailed, critical review of their genre portfolios, and Fantasy Art Shop, a shopping hub for fantasy and science fiction artwork: http://ellenmilliongraphics.com

In summary: I like projects.

In the rest of my life, I have a degree in mechanical engineering and do drafting and web programming freelance. I live in a birch forest in Alaska, in a house my husband and I built from scratch, with a newfoundland mix named Norway and a polydactyl black cat named Velcro.

Welcome! I just checked out the EMG-zine site - yes, it is pretty art heavy at first glance. May I suggest that you look around here and sites like Eli James' Novelr.com for fiction-related articles that could be featured on your site and approach the authors to see if they'd like to submit to your 'zine? That might be a good way to get the ball rolling on introducing our community to the 'zine.

Just $.02 =)
