Good Evening.
It's not actually evening as I write this, but it might be where you are, so... yeah.
Anyways, for the purposes of writing on the internet, my name is Tamyrlin Ink. I am perhaps the biggest amateur web writer you will ever meet (at least, this is what I am beginning to think; everyone else seems to be far more together and serious than I am).
But enough self deprecation. On with the shameless self advertisement. (I was both amused and comforted by a section labelled specifically for this type of thing, by the way. At least you're up front about it.)
I write 'The Grimmery,' an urban-fantasy, supernatural, ghosts-and-spirits serial web novel. The Prologue and Chapter 1 can be found here: http://thegrimmerynovel.blogspot.com/
The story centres around a writer and investigative reporter called Anton Macquarie, and he awakens one morning with a pounding head and no memories. He eventually recalls his name and most of his memories, but quickly finds that a month of his life is missing. Oh, and he can't find his tie.
Things start to get strange when his boss tells him to investigate a fire downtown. The strange thing is, his boss is dead, and the fire occured on the same night as the one that killed him. Anton can see ghosts and spirits, and when he finally gets down to where the fire was, he finds a girl that knows what he'll say before he says it, a pale woman in bright orange, a tech nerd who talks to machines with his mind, and an underground base full of strange artifacts and impressive technology that has been ransacked and abandoned. All of them (the base included) have missing memories.
As pieces fall into place, they realise that their missing memories, the fires and the base are all connected to the Grimmery, an organisation dedicated to guarding innocents against the occult, especially a particular nasty group called the 10,001 Spirits who have now been released onto their city. It seems they are the only ones left who can go out and recapture them before they can claim too many lives.
The story will follow the memory-wiped remnants of the Grimmery as they go about recapturing the 10,001 Spirits (our villains) and regaining their memories. As they do, their past selves and remembered relationships will alter their outlook on things, and will help them regain control over their abilities and capture spirits more effectively. The question is, will they like what they were, or prefer what they have become?
As for me, I've been writing for myself for a number of years now, and 'The Grimmery' is really the first thing I've put out into a public forum for criticism and the like. I've mostly been writing fantasy, but I'm interested in the supernatural and science fiction genres as well, which will probably show up in my writing. Really, that's what I like to read and watch as well.
And... that's about it, I guess. Hi.
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Sounds interesting! I'll give it a look this weekend!

You bet we're up front about it. That's what this site is all about. Welcome!
And it does indeed sound like an interesting story, with a more original premise than many.
